Raymond Gyasi (17) is a Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder who was born and raised in the Bijlmer, one of the neighbourhoods that form the Amsterdam Zuidoost (‘Amsterdam South-East’) in the Netherlands. He started football at a very tender age joining CTO’70 at the age of 8. He moved to AFC Amsterdam and then AVV Zeeburgia. He could not make the B1 squad at Zeeburgia but that didn’t prevent him from joining AZ [where he joined his brother Edwin (20)].
His breakthrough came in May 2010 in the finals of a youth tournament in which he scored a goal against Feyenoord. He has become an important player for AZ’s under 19 side.
STYLE OF PLAY
His strengths are his speed and his vision. Elegant and athletic, this attacking midfielder has a very bright future in the game. Ray is a very gifted player with excellent technical abilities. The 17-year old midfielder can also play in a more advanced role when called up to perform such duties.
Raymond is still a raw material and still needs to develop his game.
Raymond shows viewers his skills on AZ TV’s show Eredivisie Online Voetbal School (Eredivisie Online Football School) for “De Truc van de Week (Trick of the Week)“. He made his television debut on September 30,2011.

Ray was born in the Netherlands to Ghanaian parents. When it comes to playing for the national team, however, he can only opt for one country. He is yet to fully decide which senior national team he wants to represent.
”My strengths are my speed, very good when it comes to a one on one situation. I can easily lose my marker and I’m technically gifted. I’m just like Raymond .I’m a very bad loser.”- Edwin Gyasi (Raymond’s brother)
Only a machine gun can stop Raymond.
