21-Lasse Schöne signed a three year contract with Ajax last two weeks. The 25 year old NEC midfielder is the 21st Dane at Ajax.

20-Luciano Narsingh is the Eredivisie’s assist king.He has 20 assists this season.He is the first player with 20 assists in 1 season since Wim Jonk (96/97 season).

19-AZ has fallen outside the top 2 for the first time since matchday 19 and outside the top 3 since matchday 4.

18-Jetro Willems (18 years and 23 days) is the youngest goal scorer in this season’s Eredivisie while Nigeria’s Kenneth Omeruo is the younest player in ADO Den Haag’s history to be sent off in the Eredivisie: 18 years and 194 days.Omeruo is also one of the youngest players to score an own goal in the Eredivisie. OnlyFeyenoord’s Teun van Pelt (in 1957) was younger: 18 years and 180 days.

11-The last time Feyenoord finished the Eredivisie in 2nd position was in the 2000/2001 season.That was 11 years ago.

10-Gino Coutinho (ADO Den Haag) has kept 10 clean sheets this season.PSV-keepers Isaksson (5) ans Tyton (1) have done that 6 times.

9-Luuk de Jong has scored 9 Eredivisie goals with his head this season,more than any other player.Dost has 8, Malki has 7.Luuk has scored 25 goals this season,12 more than his brother Siem de Jong.

7-André Ooijer becomes the 8th player to have won the Dutch Championship for at least 7 times.

6-Matías Jones is the 6th Uruguayan to score in the Eredivisie. He is the 4th Uruguayan to score for Groningen after Texeira, Suarez and Silva.

5-PSV equalled their 45 year old record of 5 defeats in a row in the Eredivisie (October-December 1967) when the Eindhoven side was beaten by Roda JC.

4-PSV has failed to win the Eredivisie for the 4th successive season, longest run since 1993-1996.Dick Advocaat broke that jinx in 1997.

3-Michael de Leeuw is the first De Graafschap player to score in 3 consecutive Eredivisie games sinceDonny de Groot in August-September 2007.

2-Dick Advocaat hopes to become only the second manager to win the Eredivisie in two different stint with the club.Only Guus Hiddink has managed to do that.

1-Nigeria’s Kenneth Omeruo makes the headlines again.The ADO Den Haag defender is the first player to score for his team,score an own goal and get sent off in the Eredivisie.It happened in a game versus VVV-Venlo.

0-Dusan Tadic (FC Groningen) and Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord) are the only players who have not missed a minute for their clubs in the Eredivisie.

  1. very interesting article. It seems Ajax are on their way to greatness again, but just like last time the team will be ravaged by the elite clubs around Europe, its a shame the Dutch league is not as strong the the Bundesliga or even Ligue 1
