Ajax’s Danes dominates Foetbal247’s latest stats review, which includes goalscoring feats by Jozy Altidore, FC Twente, a spate of yellow cards for Mark van Bommel, and the Enschede side’s 100% recored in the Eredivisie.Numbers don’t lie, as they say.

32-

Poepon,Toornstra and Chery scored to give ADO Den Haag a 3-0 lead over Van Basten’s SC Heerenveen at half time. This is the first time in 32 years (since September 1980) that ADO has been able to take the lead with at least 3 goals in an away game before half time.

31-

The Roda JC-AZ Alkmaar was the 31st time the two sides had met in the Eredivisie. AZ has won 16 times while Roda has beaten the Alkmaarders only 7 times.

29-

AZ has scored at least 1 goal in their last 29 home games against Roda JC.That was feat was continued as Jozy Altidore punished the Roda defence.

28-

Johan Cruijff’s last game as a professional footballer was 28 years ago on 13th May 1984 when Feyenoord beat PEC Zwolle 2-1.Cruijff scored Feyenoord’s equalizer. But last weekend and Immers penalty and an own goal helped the Rotterdammers to record a 2-0 victory over the Eredivisie’s new boys.

19-

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has played only 19 of the 51 games he was supposed to play for Ajax. The powerful attacker faces yet another spell on the sidelines due to injury and could be out of action until 2013.The forward will be out of action for at least four months. It is yet another blow for the talented attacker after he already missed a large part of the 2011-12 campaign due to a fractured ankle.

17-

Jeroen Lumu (17 years & 111 days) became 1 of the youngest goal scorers for WillemII in de Eredivisie when he scored in the team’s 6-2 loss to league leaders FC Twente. Only Jan Druyts was younger as he was 17 years and 64 days old when he scored for Willem II.

16-

PSV has conceded in each of its last 16 away games after losing at Utrecht, equalling a record set in the 1958/1959 season.Former Russia boss,Dick Advocaat has expressed disappointment at his side’s abysmal showing against Jan Wouters’ men, while open heartedly admitting that FC Utrecht deserved to bag three points.

15 –

FC Twente might be the runaway league leaders this season as Steve McClaren’s side have made it 15 from a possible 15 points in the Dutch top flight.Meanwhile in Venlo,NEC set a record with their 2-2 against VVV Venlo. The team from Nijmegen has scored in each of its last 15 Eredivisie games.

13-

Wilfried Bony and Mike Havenaar scored in Vitesse’s 3-0 win over FC Groningen on Sunday.Vitesse were in front in the 63rd minute when Mike Havenaar headed home Patrick van Aanholt’s cross.Tomas Kalas then added another three minutes from time, with a Havenaar assist, and Wilfried Bony had the final say in stoppage time with another Van Aanholt assist. This is Vitesse’s best start to an Eredivisie season with 13 points from 5 games. The win leaves unbeaten Vitesse two points behind leaders FC Twente having won four of their opening five fixtures. The Arnhemmers have bettered their record of 12 points from 5 games in the 1993/94 season.

10-

FC Groningen has won 10 of the 23 home games against in-form Vitesse in the Eredivisie (10W-5D-8L) but has failed to win the last two as the side from Arnhem has beaten them 3-1 and 3-0 last weekend.Ivory Coast’s Wilfried Bony was again very important for Vitesse.I won’t be surprised  if he leaves Vitesse in January.

8-

7 of PEC Zwolle’s last 8 goals in the Eredivisie have been recorded against the traditional Top3: Ajax (2), PSV (4) and Feyenoord (1).Zwolle has 2 points from 5 games.

7-

The Eredivisie goal scorers chart tell you all you need to know about Jozy Altidore’s early-season form although he didn’t score for the USA during their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The US Men’s National Team forward cannot stop scoring for AZ Alkmaar. He is the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 7 goals in 5 games. These number of goals were not enought to break the AZ record of goals from 5 games.Shota Arveladze set that record in the 2005/2006 season.

6-

FC Groningen has scored at most 1 goal in 5  of their last 6 Eredivisie games against Vitesse (both home and away). This is a worrying sign for a team that has had prolific strikers like Luis Suarez and Berg all wearing the green and white shirt of the club before.

5

Mark van Bommel is the first player in Eredivisie history to pick up a yellow card in each of the first five matchdays of a Dutch top flight season. The Eindhoven side’s captain was booked in his team’s 1-0 loss to FC Utrecht. Before he embarked on his foreign adventure, he also picked up a yellow card in his farewell match in 2005.Continuing that run at the weekend has put him within one more booking of equalling the Dutch record for successive yellow cards, set byThe , who racked up seven in a row for ADO Den Haag between March and August 2010.But the PSV captain is not the only person who set a record last weekend.

Five Eredivisie clubs have failed to win a game after five rounds of play, equalling the record set in the 1970/1971 season.Marco Van Basten’s Heerenveen,VVV Venlo,NAC Breda,PEC Zwolle and Willem II will be looking to up their performances in the subsequent games to avoid the drop.

4-

Jozy Altidore was involved in all of AZ’s goals (3 goals & 1 assist) against Roda JC.Altidore scored a hat-trick and set up team-mate Erik Falkenburg for his goal as AZ Alkmaar thrashed Roda JC 4-0. The USA striker opened the scoring after 13 minutes, slamming home a cross from Viktor Elm, and then provided the assist for Falkenburg to make it 2-0 after 29 minutes.Jozy was not left alone to celebrate his feat as Heracles also had an upper hand over NAC Breda by coming from behind for the 4th successive game. But this is the first time it has happened in the Eredivisie.

3-

Poulsen, Eriksen and Schöne started for Ajax against RKC Waalijk. This is the 1st time ever that 3 Danes start in midfield for an Eredivisie club.

2-

This is the first time Alex Schalk has scored in 2 successive Eredivisie games for NAC after the player scored in his team’s loss to Heracles.Schalk was not sent off last weekend but a number of players have already been sent off this season. However,no player has received 2 red cards this season but a total of  14 players have been sent off once.

1-

Felipe Gutiérrez Leiva is the 1st Chilean to score in the Eredivisie since Juan Lorca scored for Vitesse on 15th March 2008 against Felipe’s current team FC Twente.Gutiérrez scored the Enschede side’s first goal in a 6-2 win over Willem II.

0-

FC Utrecht coach Jan Wouters had never beaten PSV before last weekend’s victory of the Eindhoven side. The jinx has been broken as he had lost 3 times against PSV as an Ajax coach and a respectable draw with his FC Utrecht side.
