The other five players to be left out from the 30-man provisional squad, besides Athanasiadis and Avraam Papadopoulos, were Alexandros Tzorvas, Nikos Karabelas, Kostas Fortounis, Dimitris Papadopoulos and Nikos Karelis.

Santos revealed that his biggest regret was not being able to count on Siovas, who would have been a starter but had to be dropped because of his injury. Santos will also be deprived of Schalke’s central defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos due to injury.
