Solbakken confirms Daniel Amartey will leave Copenhagen for Leicester

Daniel Amartey could be a Leicester City player in the coming days according to FC Copenhagen boss Ståle Solbakken. He confirmed the Ghanaian international is nearing a move to the Premier League on Norwegian TV. FC Copenhagen have received a €5 million offer for Amartey. Only a “few minor details” remained to be finalised.

Amartey could leave for Leicester City later this week

FC Copenhagen manager confirmed Ståle Solbakken should be a Fox later this week. Solbakken was a pundit for the Liverpool vs Man Utd game on Norway’s TV2.

Yes, there is a very big chance that our most promising player, Daniel Amartey, who has been a key figure in Copenhagen’s title bid this season will move abroad. We are negotiating with Leicester and we will reach an agreement very soon.

Solbakken believes the 21-year-old Ghanaian is going straight into Leicester’s starting line-up.

Yes, it will not take that long. I rarely see a 20 year old play with the maturity he does. He was a central defender when he joined Copenhagen from Djurgården. He had played in defence for Djurgården for 18 months. But we have used him as a central midfielder, and he has done very well both in the Super League and in Europe.

Amartey has had a meteoric rise

Daniel Amartey: A versatile & technical machine
